Bern reprints 1902-03

When someone has forgotten to hold back 726 pieces of the Í GILDI stamps for UPU in Bern, a new printing was made with the original plates in Copenhagen and overprinted Í GILDI in Reykjavik.

The values of the ordinary stamps were 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 16, 20, 25, 40, 50 and 100 aur, and the official stamps 3, 4, 5, 10, 16, 20, and 50 aur.

The printing size was 50 sheets of 100 stamps made by H.H. Thieles printworks in Copenhagen.

The reprints were made on paper with watermark large crown instead of small crown, and are therefore easy to distinguish from the original stamps. The perforation is 12¾.

A total of 104 sets was of unknown reasons not overprinted.
